Dawn Of The Century (The American Chronicles Book 1) by Robert Vaughan #ASMSG #Bookboost
Dawn Of The Century (The American Chronicles Book 1)
by Robert Vaughan
In Volume One of The American Chronicles, Robert Vaughan panoramically evokes America at the beginning of the Twentieth Century, poised on the brink of greatness and fraught with the tumult of rapid change.
In a time of robber-baron industrialists and rapid territorial expansion both at home and abroad, the new music called “ragtime” is the soundtrack for a confident nation of ambitious dreamers.
It is 1904 and the nation’s eyes are on the St. Louis World's Fair, which features an astounding variety of modern marvels. The enormous exhibition brings together the best minds the country has to offer, each of them with something to lose and opportunities to seize: Bob Canfield, a young and wealthy landowner who is willing to risk his honor and his fortune to make a profit out of the desert; Eric Twainbough, a solitary young cowboy riding the rails East from Wyoming, innocently bringing disaster with him; Terry Perkins, a reporter desperate to get the scoop on the story in St. Louis; Connie Bateman, one of the politically conscious new women fighting for freedom, bravely defending their right to equality.

The Snake Handler's Daughter: Tales of Sex & Intrigue in Amity, Kentucky
By P.A. Lassiter
"Looking for love in the wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong person and going about it all wrong."
Still, love prevails
At 66 years old, Martha Browne, daughter of a snake handling preacher
gone missing, is desperate to find love before her time runs out. Her
latest prospect, 43-year-old Arthur Endicott, the new priest at her
adopted Episcopal Church, shows great promise, though unbeknownst to
her, he's been banished to Amity for engaging in unseemly behavior in a
gay cruising park in the city.
As Arthur tries to redeem himself and
reconstruct his destroyed life, he must contend with narcissistic
Martha, who challenges him at every turn. Along the way, he and the
other citizens of small-town Amity, Kentucky, seek love for themselves.
In this Altman-esque tale told from multiple points of view, a large
cast creates an interwoven tapestry wherein each character carries a
part of the whole story. The full picture comes into focus in a climax
of murder, mayhem, and a little bit of magic.

Solstice (Rain and Bullets Book 3) Gripping Suspense Thriller #ASMSG #IARTG
Solstice (Rain and Bullets Book 3)
By Ian Pattinson
“You’re a tough one, Danny. I’ll give you that.”
The figure slumped against the concrete didn’t acknowledge the
compliment beyond flinching away from the sound of his assailant’s
voice.
Something heavy rumbled over the bridge above them at speed. Even as
Saturday rolled over into Sunday, there were still vehicles on the
motorway.
The bulky, black clad figure stood over his victim, blocking the
view of anything but his dark shape. Danny registered, barely, the light
rustling noise that accompanied his assailant’s movements, but he was
even less able to understand it than he had been before the beating
started.
“Of course, being so tough has just meant I had to hurt you more.”
It's the Summer solstice.
Maria wants to find her cousin, who has been put into a children's home run by a company called Vantage and disappeared.
Tomas wants to help Maria, and find out who Vantage are bribing to get all their contracts whilst he's doing it.
Kay Wood has just landed her first ever murder case- a body pulled
out of the Irwell with a strange symbol carved into his chest.
Irwin Baker has been called by his old boss at MI6, asking if he can
help Manchester Police investigate a murder with links to killings in
Iraq.
It's going to be a very long day for all of them.
When Maria and Tomas uncover dark secrets in Vantage's offices, they
find themselves in great danger, hunted by a killer who leaves his
signature in the bodies of his victims. Can Kay and Irwin get to them
before the killer does?

Alpha Billionaire's Bride By Mia Caldwell #ASMSG #IARTG 99cents
Alpha Billionaire's Bride By Mia Caldwell
Only 99Cents
Part One out of Four -- a fun, new romance serial. Serial is now complete! Definitely contains a cliffhanger.
Billionaires don’t date real women like Jada ... they marry them.
Jada Howarth doesn’t believe in fantasies, unlike her sister who dreams of being swept into happily-ever-after in the sculpted arms of a billionaire. Jada knows the truth, that rich men want supermodels, actresses and heiresses. They don’t want women from small towns with smaller bank accounts, women who lead normal, ordinary lives like Jada.
Then the day arrives when Jada awakes to find a swarm of reporters outside her house. They want the scoop on her secret marriage to Ian Buckley, one of the wealthiest, most sought-after bachelors in the country. Jada is dumbfounded. She has no idea what they’re talking about, but they’re too busy jostling for the scoop to listen to her.
Ian Buckley, billionaire and man-in-charge, couldn’t be more surprised when he’s told that a marriage license was leaked to the press proving he married someone named Jada Howarth. He’s never heard of her, and he definitely doesn’t remember marrying her. Either he’s lost his wits, or someone’s out to make a fool of him.
When Ian sees the disheveled, lovely Jada on TV, peeking out her door in horror at the press crushing her lawn, he’s confident she’s not behind the scam. He’ll have to meet her to be certain. Men should probably meet their wives, anyway, shouldn’t they?
It’ll be fun getting to the bottom of this fiasco. Perhaps some time together at his lakeside estate will do the trick.

#Distopia New Sun Rising: Ten Stories by Lindsay Edmunds #ASMSG #IARTG
New Sun Rising: Ten Stories
By Lindsay Edmunds
New Sun Rising is about a sixteen-year old girl, Kedzie Greer, who was
raised in a utopian community and leaves home to make her way in a
dystopian society. The year is 2199; the place, the Reunited States. In
the stories, technology coexists with a haunted world. There are witches
and robots, ghosts and e-beasts. Networld, too, is haunted. Tribes of
e-beasts look down on the human race and interfere when it suits them.
The book is magical realism for the Internet age.
New Sun Rising started out as a novel written from a single point of
view: Kedzie Greer's. However, the novel tended to devolve into a
“teenager with special powers saves the world” story. I didn't like that
direction, so I changed things up.
Actual people live in a crowd of relatives, friends, coworkers,
bosses, neighbors, and fellow citizens. Not to mention the great heaving
sea that is the Internet. Not to mention the turning Earth and the
Milky Way, and the so-far unfathomable deeps of the Universe. After
thinking about this reality for awhile, I decided to tell Kedzie’s story
mainly through the eyes of others. I wasn’t trying to be fancy. Fresh,
maybe.
Among other things, this means that New Sun Rising does not rocket
forward. Every story has groundwork to lay and characters to introduce.
There is a single plot arc, and in that sense the stories work like
chapters. However, they also work independently. Story 3, “Julia and
Adele,” and story 8, “Is Four Enough? Is Six Too Many?” can actually be
skipped (though I don't recommend it) if Kedzie’s adventures are the
main attraction.
The plot gets in gear in story 2, “Leaving Home.” The first story,
“The Town With Four Names,” gives the history of Kedzie’s hometown,
which is 300+ years old in 2199.

Tuesday Tales- Great Free Stories- #Asmsg #IARTG
Welcome to Tuesday Tales!! This is the continuation of my new Mail Order Bride Novel- this week's word prompt is "nail"
Her stomach knotted and
she felt the blood drain from her face. “Shannon. What do you mean? Do you know
where he is? I’d like to talk to him.”
“He’s at the saloon. He
owns it.”
Shannon jumped up. “Is
it all right if I leave my bag with you? It appears I have something to straighten out.”
Edith nodded. “Of
course.”
She saw something akin
to pity as she walked by the other customers. She lifted her chin and
straightened her back as she marched down the walk to the saloon. The scarred,
wooden, swinging doors were imposing as she stood looking at them trying to gather
her courage. A saloon? There had to be a mistake.
The clinking of glass
and the roar of laughter stopped when she stepped through the doors. She didn’t
care if they stared, she had to locate Mr. Hardy and get an explanation.
“It’s not often we get
a pretty little thing like you entering my place.”
Her heart dropped when
she set eyes on the rotund man with dirty, greasy, dark hair and the look of
the devil in his eyes.
“Are you John Hardy?
The John Hardy who proposed marriage to me?” She held her breath wishing for
him to say no.
“You must be my Shannon.”
He smiled showing the lack of bottom teeth. He stepped in front of her and
looked her up and down, his eyes lingering on her breasts. Putting his arm
around her waist, he turned so they were both looking at the rag tag bunch in
the saloon. “What do you think guys? A new one to add to my little doves.”
The crowd cheered as
she tried to loosen his bruising grip. “Now look here, you misrepresented
yourself. I’m not marrying you. I’m sure I can find another groom much better
than you.”
“Better than me?” he asked
his voice full of anger.
“Not better than you, I
meant someone more suited to me is all.” Glancing out of the corner of her eye,
she could tell he wasn’t buying it.
“Are you refusing to
marry me?” His body tensed and he appeared mad enough to spit nails.
Not knowing what else
to do she nodded and the next thing she knew she flew against the wall from being
backhanded across her face. Quickly she lunged for the door, but John grabbed
her by her hair and led her to the bar pinning the side of her face to the top.
She could hardly breathe
and froze in fear. The pain was so horrific she screamed and screamed and
before she knew it, she was thrown out the swinging doors into the street,
landing in the dirt street.
John followed and
laughed. “No one will want you now. You might as well get inside before
everyone sees how hideous you are.”
Reaching up she touched
her throbbing painful cheek and felt the blood before she brought her hand in
front of her to confirm it. He’d slashed her face with the knife he held in his
hand. The pain almost blinded her as spots crowded her eyes but she held on.
“I’d rather be dead than be with you.” Her voice trembled as she tried to
pretend she wasn’t scared.
John growled and
stepped forward. “I can arrange that for you.” His dark eyes flashed at her and
she believed him capable of killing.
The world seemed eerily
quiet as she pushed herself up from the hard packed dirt, only to fall back
down. Tears filled her eyes, as she looked around. There stood the women who
were just in the mercantile, staring with their eyes full of fright. She’d get
no assistance from them.
John Hardy stepped into
the street and laughed while he gestured for two men to pick her up. “Come on,
honey, it’s time for our honeymoon.”
She heard the clomping
of hooves and the turn of wagon wheels behind her but it didn’t stop to help
her either. By this time there were men standing with the group of women and
she tried to plead with her eyes but they glanced away.
The two men grabbed at
her getting ready to haul her back into the saloon when there was a loud
cocking of a gun.
“Put her down.” The man
threatened.
John stepped forward,
thrusting out his chest. “Listen, Cinders, this is none of your business. It’d
be in your best interest to leave things be.”
Shannon blacked out.
